Water · Southwest Minnesota (Murray County)

Lake Shetek

Prairie water in southwest Minnesota. About 3,460 acres, only 10 feet deep, with walleye, crappie, perch and catfish.

Usual suspects: Walleye, Panfish, Yellow perch, Channel catfish, Northern pike

Shetek is about 3,460 acres per DNR LakeFinder, which makes it big water for the prairie down by Currie. It’s only 10 feet at its deepest, so the whole lake is basically one long shallow conversation with the wind. Lake Shetek State Park sits on the shore.

DNR surveys list walleye, black and white crappie, perch, bluegill, northern pike, channel catfish and largemouth bass. There’s a public access. Just where it is and what swims there. Real days go in Reports. Facts from DNR LakeFinder.
